Salary: $67,215 - $75,000
The Bureau of Asset Management (BAM) is responsible for oversight of the investment portfolio of the New York City Retirement Systems (Systems). This $100 billion portfolio is managed primarily by external investment managers, and is largely invested in publicly traded securities, with growing allocations to private equity and real estate. Each Senior Investment Analyst position will oversee investment activity related to the asset class managed on behalf of the Systems.
Under the direction of a Senior Investment Officer, responsibilities include, but are not limited to,
the following:
- Assists with the monitoring, evaluation and administration of investment programs managed by the external investment managers;
- Coordinates portfolio review and due diligence meetings, prepares agendas and meeting notes;
- Collects data on investment program benchmarks, market indexes and maintains spreadsheets and data base;
- Oversees the monthly return reconciliation process;
- Maintains monthly asset mix spreadsheets and recommends transfers for benefits and rebalancing;
- Assists with the manager search and selection process;
- Prepares investment commentaries and assists with research and special projects;
- Assists senior management with use of risk analysis and compliance products;
- Performs related assignments or special projects as required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- MBA/MA/MS degree from an accredited college, with major studies in economics, finance, accounting, mathematics, statistics, business administration, law or a closely related field and one (1) or more years of satisfactory full-time experience in a financial or consulting organization administering publicly traded investment activities and/or overseeing external investment managers; or
- BA/BS degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 24 credits in or among economics, finance, accounting, mathematics, statistics, business administration, or law and at least three (3) or more years of full-time experience as described above.
PREFERRED SKILLS IN ADDITION TO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA is the preferred graduate degree.
- Chartered Financial Analyst Certification is ideal.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, report writing and organizational skills (includes
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency).
