THE ORGANIZATION
Sentinel Real Estate Corporation is one of the leading owners, operators and managers of institutional real estate assets in the United States. THE POSITION
The Director, Marketing and Client Service, will be located in the corporate headquarters and will be responsible for the development of investment strategies and the management of processes designed to secure real estate investment capital from U.S. institutional investors, primarily public, corporate, and Taft-Hartley pension systems, as well as endowments, foundations, and high net worth individuals, throughout the U.S. This person will report directly to the Vice Chairman, will be integrally involved in planning and executing the marketing and sales strategy, and will contribute to the supervision of Sentinel’s three current Marketing Directors.

The primary focus of this professional will be establishing relationships with new investors and expanding relationships with existing investors in the U.S.  The Director will also be responsible for client service matters relating to his or her clients and the clients of the firm. This may include responding to client requests for information, inquiries on accounts or funds, and reporting on investment performance or products. S/he will also be responsible for marshalling appropriate Sentinel Real Estate resources and professionals with research or portfolio management expertise to meet client needs. The Director will work as a member of the larger marketing and client service team handling responsibilities, as necessary, to ensure that high quality professional services experience is the reputation of this team. S/he will work with others within the firm to develop marketing collateral, respond to client and consultant RFPs, and ensure the quality of client reports.

The Director is responsible for promoting and managing Sentinel Real Estate’s brand. S/he must be able to articulate the company’s ability to execute investment strategies in the U.S. in the private and public, equity and debt real estate markets on behalf of institutional investors to prospective clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with Sentinel Real Estate’s executive team to further develop the firm’s strategic marketing and tactical sales program in the U.S.;

  • Actively pursue the creation of new client relationships and build upon established relationships including cold calls to designated prospects;

  • Assist in all aspects of new product development from the development of a fund idea, to the creation of marketing materials, to the ultimate oversight of the complete marketing effort of the fund.

  • Develop and enhance relationships with real estate investment consultants;

  • Spend approximately 60% of his/her time traveling to meet prospective and existing clients and consultants, attending industry events, or participating in forums that will increase the firm’s visibility with institutional investors and pension fund consultants.

  • Work closely with other client-facing members of the firm on all aspects of institutional marketing and sales including regular reporting on marketing and sales activities;

  • Involve senior management in the sales and marketing process as appropriate;

  • Manage all client service requirements for his/her investors; this will include working with Sentinel Real Estate staff responsible for these functions; and

  • Continuously evolve and update the firm’s database to track capital flows and potential opportunities

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will ideally have an investment management background and working knowledge of and experience in the real estate industry. Some experience and exposure to the marketing and sales function is highly desirable; the ability to adapt to the Sentinel Real Estate style and process of sales and marketing is critical. Additionally, a professional with experience in the institutional investment management world, with a demonstrated understanding of the institutional investor community, consultant groups, and peer group competitors is strongly desired. S/he will have an understanding of multiple institutional investors’ decision-making processes and knowledge of who the key decision makers are.  S/he will also have a positive working relationship, or the potential to develop such, with the institutional real estate consulting community. Lastly, desirable experience could also include real estate consulting, institutional investment management in transaction or marketing roles, or serving on the investment staff of a plan sponsor.

EDUCATION
Undergraduate degree required, with business, finance, or economics preferred. Graduate degree in business administration or a CFA designation strongly preferred. Series 7 and 63 licenses strongly preferred.
