Advocate Health Care- Investment Assistant

This person will perform diversified administrative duties associated with the Advocate Health Care Network investment program. Uses independent judgment and action to achieve results.  Job activities include: Manages all aspects of the department shared inbox. Retrieves, saves, and forwards to the appropriate team member all investment communication from the shared inbox; Proactively checks investment manager web portals according to a proscribed schedule to retrieve, save, and forward investment communications; Follows up on letters and phone calls, making sure appropriate parties follow through; Responds to issues, resolves problems, or directs individuals to appropriate parties; Obtains and prepares all administrative forms and documentation requirements associated with the investment and cash management programs; Maintains up-to-date listing all of investment manager contact information, web portal information, and upcoming meetings. Follows-up with investment managers to obtain materials from all meetings not attended by department staff; Assists with the collection of information for annual audits. Drafts investment confirmation letters sent to investment managers and proactively follows up with investment managers to ensure all confirmation are completed in their entirety and returned in a timely manner.

The position also includes diversified administrative work in support of the department, preparation and dissemination of investment-related reports, supervision of minor department expenses and coordination of Supervisor's schedule.

Qualifications include: Extensive computer knowledge, including ability to solve simple computer problems, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, excellent organization skills and attention to detail, effective interpersonal communication skills, both written/verbal and ability to prioritize work.  Education includes a Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of executive level secretarial experience and 2-4+ years financial background.

Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund- New Job Posting

Chicago Teacher's Pension Fund (CTPF) is hiring a Portfolio Manager- Alternative Investments.  The position reports into the Director of Investments and oversees the Fund's alternative investments (real estate, infrastructure and real estate investment trust and other alternative investments as applicable).  The ideal candidate will demonstrate real estate market knowledge and competency in conducting research on real estate managers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor all alternative investment managers, review and file quarterly and monthly performance and compliance reports from investment managers, hold quarterly conference calls and/or meetings and prepare summaries with analysis assessing performance and status for the Director of Investments, develop and provide portfolio data and research analytics, perform due diligence and oversee and analyze valuations.

  • Assist the team in the review and evaluation of responses to RFIs (Request for Information) and RFPs (Request for Proposals), evaluate and reconcile accounting and performance information provided by investment managers, Master custodian and investment consultants to create and provide monthly and quarter performance and attribution research and reports.

  • Maintain records of investment managers’ transitions/cash flows, including terminations, liquidations, new allocations, asset withdrawals and additional allocations.

  • Act as a liaison with alternative investment (real estate, infrastructure and real estate investment trust and other alternative investments as applicable) managers and consultant(s).

  • Prepare reports on alternative investment managers and review Consultant(s) presentations/memos for the Board/Investment Committee meetings identifying performance and/or benchmark discrepancies or inaccurate information; work with partners to correct and obtain final presentations for the respective meetings.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field required. A substitute of more than 5 years investment experience is acceptable. Desired qualities include but are not limited to: professionalism, ethics, integrity, accountability, initiative and humbleness.
